Contract Drawing
Structure Rehabilitation
The Ministry under Document 002 has provided the DBR drawings which are all marked "Draft". The RFP on page 15 in the second paragraph states that the Design-Builder may use the construction drawings for the work on the four bridge and one culvert sites, and in the third paragraph warrants the information contained in the construction drawings. The draft DBR drawings on the "Repair Details" for the various sites contains in the Notes the statement "The areas of concrete to be repaired shown are for information only. Actual areas of concrete to be repaired will be identified by the Contract Administrator" (see sheet 150 for an example). Parts of the documents advise the Design Builder that we should anticipate 5% of the deck area will need to be repaired. We have two questions concerning the above information. Firstly, will the Ministry be providing Issued for Construction drawings for the rehabilitation work at the four bridge sites and one culvert site to the successful bidder following award. Secondly, what quantities should we be assuming for the parapet wall, bridge soffit and vertical face repairs including chip and patch ad epoxy crack injection.

The Drawings included in SDR are final and the same as the drawings used in the DBR but without the draft stamp. As outlined on Pg 15 of the RFP; The Ministry warrants that the Design-Builder can rely upon the information contained in the construction drawings in accordance with GC 2.01, although the Design-Builder still needs to verify the information and undertake the work to construct these bridges. The Design-Builder will not be responsible for the loss or damage that may occur as a result of errors in the construction drawings, except those arising from the acts or omissions of the Design-Builder. The Design-Builder remains responsible for the construction means, methods, techniques, sequences and procedures and for coordinating the various parts of the work required to construct using the construction drawings for the two sets of bridges, including but not limited to a quality management plan specified in, traffic staging during construction, costs estimates for materials and material quantity estimates. Quantity estimates for all structural rehabilitation items are included in the Structural Design Reports.
