Enquiry
With Addendum #2, Item 5101 under Schedule C identified a quantity of Special Markings; however, it is not clear whether these are waterborne or durable markings. Additionally, section 2003.04.04.02 Best Practices suggests various factors for consideration in order to select the materials (e.g. traffic volumes, turning movements, high accident rate etc.). Can the Ministry clarify the materials expected for these pavement markings?

The accomplishment quantity under Item 5101 in Schedule C may include both water borne or durable Special Markings. It is the contractors responsibility to determine the type of pavement marking material to be applied which satisfies the contract requirements for Retracing of Pavement Markings. In order to determine the type of pavement marking material to be applied, consideration should be given to those conditions detailed in the best practices.
