Item 444 Fibre Wrapping System
Enquiry
With respect to Item 444 Carbon Fibre Wrapping System 1. The specification drawing and notes call for continuous wrapping of both CFRP layers in one wet lay-up application. We would be concerned about this approach as it relates to resin sag, overlaps and just the practicality of applying it well with no voids. It will be difficult to achieve on a columns of this diameter. 2. The quality control provisions require pull-off bond test (Clause 8.02) using 50 mm dollies (which is typical). However, the surface is not flat, it is circular. The only bond test that might typically be applicable would be some form of peel test. Flat bond testing would be possible. 3. Clause 8.03: They refer to preparation of test specimens for tensile properties. They do not describe the frequency of tensile specimens and who is responsible for testing them. Are they made daily? Per m2 of wrap?
