Response
Question # 1 - The UPC 1 and UPC 2 are to be completed in Stage 2A as indicated in the Contract Documents at which point the new Fountain Street Bridge will be finished providing additional space for installing the crossing. The bore portion of the installation is from edge of existing pavement to edge of existing pavement as noted on the Quantity Sheets and the remainder of the installation is open cut. Question # 2 - Steel Casing is acceptable provided the requirements as detailed in the Tunnel special provision are met. A secondary liner would be required depending on the tunnelling method selected by the Contractor as specified in the Tunnel Special Provision.
